What is Hydralyte

Hydralyte is an Oral Rehydration Solution, scientifically formulated to replace water and electrolytes lost due to vomiting, diarrhoea, heavy sweating, vigorous exercise and excess alcohol consumption.
When to start taking Hydralyte

Hydralyte may be taken on the first signs of fluid loss due to vomiting and diarrhoea.
Hydralyte may also be taken to help manage dehydration due to the loss of fluids through heavy sweating, this can be caused by a hot or dry environment, fever or strenuous exercise.

Signs of Dehydration

Common signs of dehydration include:

Sticky or dry mouth, increased thirst, decreased or dark yellow urine, lethargy, fatigue, dizziness and headache.
Further symptoms of dehydration may include:

Lack of concentration, irritability, sunken fontanelle (soft spot on babies heads), dry nappies and sunken eyes.
Who is most at risk of dehydration?

Dehydration due to vomiting or diarrhoea can be dangerous in babies, children under 5 years old and the elderly

Warnings

Seek medical advice if diarrhoea persists for more than:

-6 hours in infants under 6 months

-12 hours in children under 3 years

-24 hours in children aged 3–6 years

-48 hours for adults and children aged over 6 years
Store below 30oC

Warning contains:

0.86 mg/mL potassium

1.22 mg/mL sodium
Be aware that dehydration due to vomiting or diarrhoea can be dangerous in babies and children under 5 years old and in elderly people.

Sodium chloride

Potassium citrate (monohydrate)

Citric acid monohydrate

Glucose (monohydrate)
Product also contains

Purified water, carmellose sodium, blackcurrant colour solution (122, 133), natural flavour, sucralose, potassium sorbate, sodium benzoate.

Directions

Place Hydralyte Ice Blocks in the freezer.
When frozen cut one end with clean scissors.
Push the frozen Hydralyte Ice Block from the cut end.
Suck small amounts until consumed.

Under 12 months: 1 x 62.5 mL block every 60 min

1–3 years: 1 x 62.5 mL block every 60 min

3–6 years: 1 x 62.5 mL block every 30 min

6–12 years: 2 x 62.5 mL block every 30 min

Over 12: 3 x 62.5 mL block every 30 min
